How to use this guide

Use this guide to prepare your requirements. Contact us if you need help choosing a configuration.

Pet food packing starts with the kibble and the bag

A pet food packing machine must match three things: how your kibble flows, the weight in each pack, and how the bag is formed and closed. For dog food and cat food granules, a ten-head combination weigher with vertical form-fill-seal packaging is one route; a premade-pouch system is another. A weighing unit on its own is not a complete bag-making and sealing line.

Start with dry kibble rather than the broad label “pet food.” Wet food, sticky treats, powders and brittle freeze-dried pieces can need different feeding, dosing and packaging arrangements. Send a photograph and representative material alongside the weight range. This lets the equipment discussion begin with the product you actually sell.

Ten-bucket scale granule packing system: the HC-720 route

If you are looking for a dog food or cat food ten-bucket scale granule packing system, the machine type to compare is a ten-head combination weigher paired with a bagging machine. “Ten-head” describes the weighing configuration; it does not mean ten bags are filled simultaneously.

HC-720 Ten-Head Weigher Granule VFFS Packing Machine combines a ten-head combination weigher with vertical form-fill-seal packaging. Its product range includes pet food, snacks, nuts, seeds and other granules. The listed weighing range is 10–3000 g, with pillow bags and gusset bags as the package formats. Share the actual kibble and film specifications to match the working configuration to your target pack.

The machine forms a bag from film, receives the weighed granules, then seals and cuts the bag. Before comparing output, agree on the target dose, bag dimensions and usable finished packs per minute. A scale cycle rate alone is not the output of the complete packing line.

Compare three equipment routes

  • HC-720: combination weighing with VFFS. Compare this route for roll-film pillow or gusset bags. It connects weighing with bag forming, filling, sealing and cutting.
  • HC-10 dual-head granule weigher: weighing and dosing. Two linear weighing heads use vibration feeding. The listed dose range is 10–2000 g. Confirm the separate bag or container presentation and closing equipment when planning a complete workflow.
  • XG8-200F premade-pouch granule packing machine: combination weighing with rotary pouch handling. Compare this route when the packaging arrives as finished pouches. Its listed dose range is 50–1000 g. Pouch style, size, opening and sealing behavior must fit the selected configuration.

These routes solve different packaging tasks. Do not choose a premade-pouch machine for roll film, or assume a standalone weigher also makes bags. Use the granule packing machine range to compare the equipment boundary before requesting a quotation.

What to measure in your kibble sample

Record typical and largest piece dimensions, bulk density, broken-piece content, oil coating and how the material moves out of a hopper. Include a representative difficult batch, not only the cleanest sample. A low-density product may need more volume for the same weight; oily or irregular pieces may feed differently from dry, uniform granules.

Review the path from the supply container to the finished bag. Transfer points, lift height and drop height matter when the product is fragile. Ask how contact parts are reached for cleaning and what must be removed during a recipe change. Cleaning access and carryover between recipes belong in the configuration discussion, alongside weighing and bagging.

Confirm the package before ordering equipment

For roll film, provide the film structure, width, roll dimensions, print repeat and the desired finished bag dimensions. For premade pouches, send physical samples and identify the opening, zipper and gusset arrangement. State the smallest and largest formats you intend to run so that change parts and adjustments can be discussed together.

Check whether kibble or dust reaches the sealing area during filling. Agree on seal evaluation appropriate to your package and product. Appearance alone does not establish package integrity. If you need gas flushing, weight checking, metal detection or coding, identify each requirement separately and ask for its place in the quotation; do not assume it is included in the base machine.

A practical sample-run acceptance checklist

  1. Define the run: recipe, batch condition, target weight, package and intended operating speed.
  2. Measure finished packs: tare the packaging, record net weights and agree the acceptable variation before the run.
  3. Count usable output: separate completed packs from rejects and record interruptions, replenishment and operator tasks.
  4. Inspect product and seals: compare broken pieces, fines, trapped material and the agreed seal checks.
  5. Check changeover: move between the selected pack sizes and recipes, including cleaning and setup tasks.
  6. Confirm the handover: configuration, utilities, layout, packing, operating instructions and service arrangements.

Choose an agreed run length that represents your intended operation. Keep the material, settings and acceptance criteria together so that a good-looking demonstration can be evaluated against your own purchasing requirements. The granule sample data checklist helps prepare those inputs.

Questions buyers ask

Can one machine pack both dog food and cat food?

Possibly, when both products fit its feeding, weighing and package configuration. Compare piece size, flow, oil coating, target dose and recipe-change cleaning. Test both products rather than assuming that changing the weight setting is enough.

Should I choose ten-head weighing or a premade-pouch machine?

These are not opposing choices: one describes weighing, the other describes bag handling. HC-720 pairs ten-head weighing with VFFS; XG8-200F pairs combination weighing with premade-pouch handling. Choose the package route, then match the weighing and feeding arrangement.

What should I send for a quotation?

Send the kibble sample or material description, target weight range, package samples or film specification, required usable output, destination power supply and available installation space. Include any inspection, coding or gas-flushing requirements. Discuss your pet food packing requirement to compare a configuration against these inputs.
